The project aims for approbation of methods for training dogs for DAD diagnosis of hypo and hyper glycaemia diabetic crises where blood sugar levels fall to 2 units – near comatose condition and rise to 30 or more units – hyperglycemia. By children and young people there is a strong variation in the levels of sugar in the blood due to their high motor and emotional activity, lack of skills for permanent control of insulin levels and self-awareness of symptoms, leading to the occurrence of frequent hypo- or hyper glycaemia crises, which can be fatal without intervention of the parent. Timely reporting by DAD for metabolic change will help to manage the coming crisis.
