Community BoardOn February 9, 2016, TELUS International Europe proudly gifted more than 75, 000 € to 20 local non-profit organizations, through our Community Board.

The board brings together distinguished community leaders and TELUS International Europe team members to make decisions on philanthropic initiatives, specifically identifying where charitable funding will have the greatest impact.

For this funding session, the board reviewed more than 150 health, environment and education projects supporting families and youth in Bulgaria and Romania. You can find the list of beneficiaries here.

One of the non-government organizations selected was Samusocial Romania. The association offers medical, social and psychological services to homeless people in Bucharest, acting like an emergency unit dedicated to saving the lives of those living on the streets.

Samusocial Romania received 5,700 € in funding for their project, entitled “A Chance for Homeless Children”. The objective is to save the lives of newborn babies living on the streets of Bucharest and to enroll homeless children in school. The project provides food, diapers and medical services to babies as well as accessible counseling to their mothers. The funds will help provide critical resources to 70 children directly, in turn, helping the 200 family members responsible for their care and wellbeing.

TELUS International Europe Romania has been a partner of Samusocial for several years, supporting their efforts to help homeless parents and children survive the extremely difficult conditions by addressing the primary needs of these families. TELUS International Romania has provided ongoing funding for basic elementary survival kits and emergency care for babies. In the last 2 years we have helped to distribute 120 survival kits containing medicine, powderd milk, pampers and clothes.

Since their inception in 2005, TELUS Community Boards have contributed $52.75 million to grassroots charitable organizations and supported more than 4,300 community projects. TELUS has Community Boards in every continent the company operates within. If you are an NGO and would like to apply for funding through our European Community Board please follow the link.
