    In May, 2014, TELUS International Europe has joined the Association of Business Service Leaders in Romania (ABSL). The organization is representing the business services sector, gathering high profile companies which conduct business in the area of Shared Services Center (SSC), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO), Research and Development (R&D).

    “We are proud to join ABSL in Romania. It is crucial for our company to play an active role in representing our industry locally and move our business interests forward. Our primary objectives with ABSL will be to contribute to drive market insights and intelligence and strengthen positive image of our sector in Romania” says Gregoire Vigroux, Marketing Director at TELUS International Europe.

    ABSL Romania aims to lead the Business Service Sector’s expansion and transformation into an integral part of Romania’s economic growth through industry collaboration and by engaging authorities and interest groups in developing the key operational and development aspects.

    This year TELUS International plans to double the headcounts in Romania to reach 800 employees by December 2014. Bulk of this growth will be generated by new projects submitted by the parent company – TELUS Corporation – second largest telecom provider in Canada with annual revenues of over $ 11 billion. The enlargement of the TELUS International Europe team in Romania will support the growth of the BPO industry and increase the attractiveness of Romania as a leading localization for outsourcing and offshoring projects.

    TELUS International Europe is joining ABSL as a core member among which are Genpact, HP, Luxoft, Microsoft, Office Depot, Stefanini, Wipro and WNS.

    Romania remains one of the top countries for multilingual call center outsourcing in Europe according to a recent A&T Kearney ranking. The main reasons for which Romania ranks so well are the excellent language skills; strong aptitude for IT; impressive adaptability to other cultures; and cultural proximity to Western Europe.
